Abstract
Linear stochastic master equations for wave propagation in a continuous random medium are derived along the lines of the resolvent theory used in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. Equations for the mean and fluctuating fields are subsequently obtained by operating directly on the stochastic master equations with statistical projection operators. The findings are compared with the results determined using the method of renormalization and the method of smoothing. Keywords
