Abstract
The Monte Carlo method has been used to study the ground state of a 2D Ising spin system with quenched nearest-neighbour interactions of random sign but fixed strength. The defect energy has also been obtained and its vanishing at a concentration of approximately=0.15 of antiferromagnetic bonds is taken to represent the destruction of ferromagnetic order. Keywords
