Abstract
In four “yesterday” interviews, older people reported details of their day-to-day mental and physical health symptoms. Pain of various types, fatigue/weakness mental health symptoms, and worries, in that order, bothered the largest percentages of people and were also the most frequently reported symptoms. Emotional/mental symptoms were rated as being the most bothersome. Different symptoms had differing effects in curtailing activities and disturbing sleep. The results underline the interrelationships among mental and physical symptoms and the importance of specific probing questions by health professionals to identify underreported symptoms. Keywords
