Abstract
Photoelectric UBV observations of the short-period eclipsing binary RW Dor are presented; they were obtained at the Bosque Alegre Station of Cordoba Observatory. RW Dor is a W-type contact system showing a significant temperature difference between the components. The orbital period and ephemeris are analysed from eight photographic minima and from 27 photoelectric minima. The light curves were analysed by the Wilson–Devinney computational code. The large range for the possible values of the mass ratio, q, makes the need of a spectroscopic determination clear. The observed asymmetry in the light curves is interpreted as a hot spot localized on the trailing hemisphere of the larger component. An estimate of the temperature of the spot is given. Keywords
