Abstract
D-Apiose, D-xylose, and 2-O-methyl D-xylose have been identified as components of polysaccharides of ZosteramarinaL.D-Apiose has been synthesized by a new procedure which clarifies the stereochemistry at C3 of the D-apiose molecules and which gives a new general method for the synthesis of branched chain sugar alcohols. Keywords
