Polysaccharides Elaborated by Pullularia pullulans. Part I. The Neutral Glucan Synthesized from Sucrose Solutions.

Abstract
From the crude polysaccharide isolated from cultures of the fungus Pullularia pullulans in solutions of sucrose, a neutral glucan and an acidic polysaccharide, containing largely glucose, have been obtained. Structural investigation of the former yielded evidence of an essentially linear molecule of more than 250 [alpha]-D-glucopyranose residues linked (1 [forward arrow] 6) and (1 [forward arrow] 4) in the ratio 1:2.
