Abstract
Several prepns. of chorionic gonadotrophins of various degrees of purity were tested for antigenic and pyrogenic substances (anaphylaxis test on guinea pigs, and temp. test on rabbits, respectively) and for toxic side-effects when used clinically. A close correlation was found between the antigen and pyrogen content and the toxicity of the prepn. in human subjects. Out of 10 commercial prepns. of the hormone, only 3 were found to be of a sufficiently high degree of purity. Keywords
