Abstract
The results of the structure study of open merocyanine forms of indoline spiropyrans are reported. Structural factors stabilizing spiropyrans in the open state are discussed. The molecular and crystal structures of these compounds are discussed in detail as well as the intermolecular interaction energy in their crystals and the thermal stability of various isomers. From the point of view of the data obtained the most probable mechanism of spiropyrans photoconversions is considered. Keywords
