Abstract
Patients (11) with severe influenza viral pneumonia were seen over a 6-wk interval. Patients (5) survived after prolonged respirator and O2 therapy. Follow-up chest roentgenograms and pulmonary function testing 1 yr after recovery showed development of diffuse pulmonary fibrosis in the 4 survivors reexamined.
