Abstract
Some problems associated with the zero-frequency component of the correlation function J(0), its calculation from thermal Green functions and its physical interpretation are studied. Various proposals for determining J(0), which are not directly obtainable from the Green function, are examined and a new method proposed. The related question of the zero-frequency limit of J( omega ) is also considered. Keywords
