Abstract
An improved tech-nique of arterial catheterization for retrograde left ventriculography is described. The armamentarium includes a guide wire with a spiral tip and a soft tip catheter. Its advantages are: the minimization of risk of arterial thrombosis at the puncture site; facilitation of passage through tortuous iliac or subclavian arteries; an easy and non-traumatic entrance into the left ventricle; and the possible use of a soft-tipped catheter which diminishes the possibility of perforation of the myocardium. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
