Heterometallic complexes of platinum with bridging sulphido- ligands: crystal structure of [{Pt2(µ-S)2(PPh3)4}2Pd](BF4)2

Abstract
The complex [Pt2(µ-S)2(PPh3)4] functions very effectively as a bidentate ligand towards other metal ions, e.g. Ni2+, Pd2+, Hg2+, and Au+, and Au+, therefore provides a good high yield route into heterometallic complexes containing 3, 5, and 6 metal atoms; the structure of one of these complexes, [{Pt2(µ-S)2(PPh3)4}2Pd](BF4)2, was determined by X-ray crystallography.
