Teaching students about pressure sores

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore possible reasons for nurses’ past lack of interest in prevention and, particularly, in treatment of established pressure sores, before suggesting strategies for fostering general interest in this important topic. It is necessary to explore why nurses often regard pressure sores as less interesting than other clinical topics, and why, even when interest has been stimulated and knowledge is apparently adequate, there is failure to comply with protocols for prevention and treatment.
