Abstract
Models consisting of a complex scalar field in R2 and featuring symmetry-breaking potentials, are proposed. These models possess topologically stable classical lumps. For a special subclass of these models, explicit solutions for these lumps can be found. The possibility of treating these lumps as solitons in (2+1 dimensions is briefly remarked on.Keywords
