Abstract
Biopsy of the rectal mucosa revealed PAS positive macrophages. The diagnosis was confirmed by per-oral small intestinal biopsy or laparotomy. Biopsies of rectal mucosa in known rectal disease such as ulcerative proctitis and in normals did not show any case presenting characteristic PAS positive macrophages. To date there have been no false positives. Keywords
