Abstract
The exchange-enhanced magnetic susceptibility of Sc and Ga decreases strongly when small amounts of nonmagnetic impurities are added. The decrease is a linear function of the spectroscopic spin-orbit energy of the impurity at constant valency and has the same origin as the decrease of the Curie temperature of Ni in dilute Ni:Pd and Ni:Pt.
