Abstract
Analytical techniques to determine total carbon dioxide in sea water are reviewed. Carbon dioxide system components are expressed as a function of total carbon dioxide. The relationship between alkalinity and total carbon dioxide, biological changes in the total carbon dioxide and dissolved oxygen content of the sea are discussed along with possible application of total carbon dioxide to the study of the direction of deep-sea water flow. Keywords
