Abstract
Marsupial and eutherian nuclei in heterokaryons wore shown to synthesize DNA and RNA, apparently at control levels, and heterokaryons were found to contain marsupial hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase. The two types of nucleus in heterokaryons were also able to undergo synchronous chromosome condensation. Our results provide no evidence for suppression of nucleic acid synthesis, gene expression or mitosis in marsupial x eutherian heterokaryons. Keywords
