Abstract
Summary: Radioimmunoelectrophoresis was used to define the distribution of antigen-binding activity in rat sera during the course of an immune response to a single injection of DNP-BGG emulsified in complete Freund's adjuvant. Binding of labeled antigen to IgM, IgA, IgGa and IgGb was found as early as day 4; more intense binding to IgA, IgGa and IgGb was seen in antisera from weeks 2 to 6. The IgM precipitin are did not bind antigen after week 5, nor after a second injection of antigen. All four immunoglobulin classes were identified in sera from twelve different rat strains. Keywords
