Support for community health projects in the UK: a role for the National Health Service

Abstract
This paper provides firstly an overview of the community health movement in the UK, and then looks at one particular type of community health project in more detail, giving illustrations from the Granton Community Health Project. We then move on to look generally at the support which is needed by the community health movement, including a description of the work of the National Community Health Resource. The support that the National Health Service (NHS) can give community health projects is then explored in more detail, and the paper finishes with suggestions for improved NHS support of community health projects.
