Abstract
As the beneficiary of the efforts of the engineer and the contractor, owners' concerns for specifications and the people who prepare them deserve to be heard. In this analysis by a private design professional of the owners' responses to the specifications committee questionaire, some revealing insights are made into the special problems of each participant in a construction contract, as well as into the many problems upon which they all agree. The way is clear for definite improvement if each party, being mindful of their professional obligations, will contribute their share to correct the difficulties. A list of recommended five improvements is offered.
