Abstract
Recordings made of the speech of 20 women in two groups, one age 65-79, with a mean age of 72.6, the other age 80-94 years, with a mean age of 85 years. All possessed adequate reading ability, no dysphonia, and were generally healthy and had adequate hearing. There were no significant differences in mean pitch level between Groups I and n, while between group I and the data from another study on young adult women, the speaking pitch level of women probably varies little throughout older life. No evidence of so-called senile voice was found among the subjects. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
