Sensitized Fluorescence: A Potential Method to Enhance the Concentration Sensitivity of Fluorescence Detection in Small-Bore LC

Abstract
It is shown theoretically that sensitized fluorescence provided by indirect excitation of analytes via a donor compound under certain conditions leads to lower concentration detection limits than attainable with direct fluorescence detection. The method is only applicable in small-bore liquid chromatography. Preliminary experiments support the theoretical considerations.
