Abstract
Thin‐film Luneburg lenses are formed by sputtering through a circular shaped mask. A series of computer simulation programs have been developed for the synthesis of the shadow mask contour to produce the necessary thin‐film lens thickness profile. Diffraction‐limited results have been obtained for guided wave optical lenses. Keywords
