Abstract
The nuclear magnetic resonances of 23Na and 27Al in nepheline are characterized by the usual absence of satellite lines of the quadrupole splitting. In a nepheline from Ontario, Canada, showing broad inner satellites of 27Al the quadrupole coupling constant of 23Na has been estimated to lie between 1.5 and 2.0 MHz, the coupling constant of 27Al is probably less than 1 MHz. The results prove that a high degree of cation disorder must exist in nepheline. In addition, it is very likely that domain disorder may play a role. Keywords
