Abstract
A general helicity formalism is developed for the determination of spin and parity of boson resonances of arbitrary spin which have sequential decay modes. The procedure is illustrated with a few simple but, in practice, important decay modes, namely, 1+1, 1±+0, and 2++0, where 1± and 2+ mesons in turn decay into 2 or 3 pseudoscalar mesons. The method proposed here is independent of the dynamics of the production and decay process.
