A Comparison of Cardiac Outputs, Determined by Direct Fick and Pressure Pulse Methods

Abstract
The detn. of cardiac outputs by the pressure pulse method agrees well with the direct Fick method. The avg. variation between the 2 measurements is +12.2% with a range from +23% to -15.5%. The coeff. of correlation, corrected for small samples, is r = +0.936. Directional changes in cardiac output can be conveniently followed by the pressure pulse method.
