Abstract
A rigid-plastic body at the yield point is stressed by external forces due to normal pressure and Coulomb friction. By considering the process of tube ironing, it is shown that upper-bound values for the loads may be determined using the polygon of forces. This method is extended to sheet drawing, sheet extrusion, and the compression of a wide thin lamina, taking account of Coulomb friction on external boundaries. Keywords
