Distribution of relaxation times in(KBr)0.5(KCN)0.5

Abstract
Measurements of the dielectric response of (KBr)0.5 (KCN)0.5 covering nine decades of frequency are reported. We have shown how the relaxation times proliferate as the temperature is lowered. The anomalously wide distribution of relaxation times can be generated from a Gaussian distribution of energy barriers. As temperature is decreased not only does the spread of relaxation times increase, but more importantly the width of the distribution of activation energies itself increases.
