Abstract
Chronic stress of minor intensity prevents the usual inhibition of TSH [thyroid stimulating hormone] secretion induced by an acute stressing procedure. Chronic administration of reserpine reverses the usual inhibition of TSH secretion induced by acute stress, which is now followed by an elevation of plasma TSH concentration. Chronic stress leads to increased resting levels of plasma TSH. The studies reported here were conducted on rats with direct measurements of plasma TSH levels by bioassay. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
