Abstract
The normal configuration and duration of the QRS complex, ascending and descending limbs of the T wave, the T wave, and the Q-aT and Q-T interval are described. The configuration of the QRS-T deflections was studied by dividing the electrical events into 4 periods according to the sequence and direction of ventricular depolarization and repolarization. The normal range of variation, and the degree of alteration produced by pathological states, was frequently different for each limb of the T wave. The perpendicular orientation of terminal T wave vector forces to the lead I axis was thought to be responsible for the frequently observed shorter duration of the descending limb of the T wave in that lead. The reasons for the appearance of the greatest variety of QRS-T deflections in lead aVL are discussed. Induction of ether anesthesia may cause brief transient QRS-T changes. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
