Abstract
The synonymy of Amblyseius Andersoni (Chant) and A. Potentillae (Garman) has long been suspected and yet this matter has not been resolved despite growing interest in these species as agents for biological control. Examination of the type material and additional specimens of the two species and Principal Component Analysis based on 21 morphometric characters showed no appreciable differences between them. Therefore, A. Potentillae, is designated a junior synonym of A. andersoni. Based on a reexamination of the type material, A. britannicus (Chant) also is designated a junior synonym of A. andersoni. Redescriptions of the adult female and adult male of A. andersoni are provided.
