Abstract
Spending per capita for health care in the United States varies dramatically by State and region. In 1982, personal health care costs per capita ranged from a low of $857 in South Carolina to a high of $1,508 in Massachusetts. The focus of this article is State and regional variation in spending levels and the mix of health care services purchased. Possible causes for these differences are presented. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
