Abstract
Patterns of foraminiferal abundance and diversity reflect changes in the depositional environment and can be useful in recognition of both sequence boundaries and boundaries of depositional systems tracts. Examples of foraminiferal diversity and abundance from the Galveston South, Mobil A-158-1 well, are used to illustrate biostratigraphic patterns, and define candidates for sequence boundaries, condensed sections, maximum flooding surfaces, and transgressive and regressive facies. Keywords
