Abstract
This paper proposes the hierarchical naming scheme, which is a way of naming and addressing suitable forlarge-scale distributed systems. FIrst, assumptions ofthe systems are provided, and features required for namingin the systems are discussed. Then, the methodsfor giving location-independent IDs and addresses representingobjects" location are proposed. Our schemeconstructs global IDs and addresses from locally uniqueones. They have relative representations, which aretranslated if...Keywords
