Abstract
For the recently discovered heavy-fermion compound CeCu4Ga specific heat and susceptibility measurements are presented for temperatures from 100 mK to 2 K and from 30 mK to 4 K, respectively. The ratio γ = c/T of the specific heat shows a maximum at 0.9 K with the giant value of 3.15 J/mole K2. From γ(0) = 1.83 J/mole K2 we estimate an effective mass m* ≈ 380m0 which is by far the heaviest mass of all presently known highly correlated electron systems. Keywords
