Management of malignant ulcers — a flow diagram

Abstract
A malignant ulcer is defined here as a break in epidermal integrity because of infiltration by malignant cells. This may be due to primary skin malignancy, metastatic deposits or extension of malignancy from deeper structures. The flow diagram does not deal with decubitus ulcers, ulcers due to antitumour therapy, (e.g. apthous ulcers after chemotherapy or extravasation of irritant drugs), or malignant ulcers of the mucous membranes, (e.g. oral malignancies).
