Abstract
Since ammonia may cause hepatic coma the value of the blood ammonia determination, arterial and venous, is emphasized and its usefulness in distinguishing between hepatic coma and uremia is stressed. The role of ammonia in the production of mental symptoms in other conditions is considered.Keywords
