Abstract
Many-body perturbation-theory formulas are derived for one-particle--one-hole excited states of closed-shell atoms. Both analytic results and Goldstone diagrams complete through third order are presented, and a sample calculation of a transition energy in neonlike xenon is carried out.Keywords
