Abstract
The qualitative composition of algal associations in biotopes of the midlittoral and the upper infralittoral up to a depth of 3 m was studied at some places of the coast of Rhodes. Collections of algae were made in April-June and in Sept. One hundred and forty taxa were determined, including 31 Chlorophyceae, 27 Phaeophyceae and 82 Rhodophyceae. The ratio Rhodophyceae/Phaeophyceae was 3. The abundance-dominance and the sociability of the species in various levels of different biotopes as well as their seasonal periodicity were noted.
