Chromosomal Studies in Bovine Lymphosarcoma2

Abstract
Nine cases of bovine lymphosarcoma were studied and, in all but one, varying proportions of cells with changes in their chromosomal constitution were found. The studies were made on cells obtained from short-term, peripheral blood leukocyte cultures and/or directly from lymph nodes. Changes involved alterations in the chromosomal numbers to give either hypodiploid or hyperdiploid constitutions. No constant pattern of aneuploidy or structural change was found, but in 4 cases the abnormal karyotypes were without one of the submetacentric or sex chromosomes. Two others had cells with the same marker chromosomes in more than one lymph node. In 4 cases, cells from lymph nodes had abnormal karyotypes, whereas those from peripheral blood cultures had apparently normal karyotypes.
