Abstract
We examine numerically the influence of the distribution of the poles and residues of the matrix on the elastic enhancement factor in the Hauser-Feshbach formula. For a distribution of pole parameters consistent with the results of random matrix theory, our results strongly suggest a value of , in the limit of strongly overlapping resonances.
