Wide Band Recording FeAlSi Film Laminated Head Considering Core Configuration

Abstract
An attempt was made to miniaturize the magnetic head core, aiming at wide band recording. To this end, the effects of the core size and magnetic permeability on the reproducing efficiency of the film core head were studied, both by computer simulation and by experiment. The main results are as follows: (1) the minimum core width can be reduced to about 160 μm without apparent decrease in the core efficiency; (2) the core efficiency depends strongly on the permeability of the film core. Finally, the frequency characteristics of FeAlSi film laminated core heads, constructed using the above results, were measured. A core loss ratio of 3.8 dB was achieved over the frequency range from 2 MHz to 18 MHz.
