Abstract
Trissolcus crypticus sp. n., a sibling species of T. basalis (Wollaston), is described. Introduced from Pakistan into Australia and Hawaii (via Australia) as a ‘strain’ of T. basalis, it was widely released for the biological control of Nezera viridula (Linnaeus). In Australia, the species reputedly gave widespread control of N. viridula populations in inland and northern areas. Examination of all available T. basalis specimens in Australia failed to discover any T. crypticus (other than voucher specimens) and its role as a biological agent warrants reassessment. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
