The social desirability of trait descriptive terms: Applications to a self-concept inventory.

Abstract
100 college Ss (male and female) were given the standard Bills Index of Adjustment and Values. A high positive correlation exists between both mean self-concept-and ideal-self-endorsements and social desirability (SD). SC and IS measures are saturated with SD and lose meaning independent of the SD variable. 22 refs. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
