Giant Cell Tumor Involving the Middle Ear

Abstract
GIANT cell tumors most frequently involve long bones. The sites of predilection are the lower end of the femur, the upper end of the tibia, the radius, the mandible, the humerus, the small bones of the hand, the sacral bone, and, on occasion, the patella. It has been noted in the temporomandibular joint. Neither the pathologist nor I had ever previously noted a giant cell tumor in the middle ear. Hence, we feel it is sufficiently unusual to justify this brief report. Report of a Case The patient, a 51-year-old man, was first seen by me on July 25, 1966. He complained of difficulty in hearing of ten months' duration. He was told at a clinic that he had an "infection in the left ear," and that there was a "swelling in the ear."
