Stripe domain width in bubble garnet films

Abstract
A significant difference was found between stripe widths of bubble garnet film observed by different measuring methods. The methods are (1) stripe width Sw(?) arranged with the ac magnetic field perpendicular to the film plane; (2) stripe widths Sw(H) elongated parallel to the in‐plane dc magnetic field with the aid of the ac field as in (1); (3) stripe widths Sw(H?) modulated with an additional ac field after obtaining the magnetic domains of Sw(H). The result that Sw(?) =Sw(H?) ?1.1 Sw(H) was obtained. The exchange stiffness estimated using Sw(?) gives reasonable values, while that from Sw(H) does not. It has been concluded that method (3) is superior to the other two methods.
