Conversion of Testosterone-1,23H to Androstenedione-3H in the Isolated Hair Follicle of Man

Abstract
The metabolism of testosterone-1, 23H in vitro in isolated human hair follicles from the scalps of nine normal subjects, six males and three females has been studied. The major metabolite identified by thin-layer chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography, and recrystallization to constant specific activity, was found to be androstenedione.
