Abstract
A simple spectrophotometric method without solvent extraction was established for the determination of berberine chloride(BBC) by using ο-hydroxyhydroquinonephthalein-zirconium(IV)-fluoride complex. The method was used to determine 5-45 μg/10 ml of BBC, where the apparent molar absorptivity was 4.2 × 104 dm3 mol-1 cm-1 at 515 nm. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of BBC in multiple component drugs.
