Abstract
Summary A multidimensional analysis was done on a sample of patients in a psychiatrie open ward fN = 366) in order to cluster different types of suicidal and non-suicidal groups on the basis of a number of parameters. The statistical analysis, called « segmentation select », consists in a typo-logical selection of variables where the parameters of Jl (explanatory parameters) and the patterns of J2 (parameters to be explained) are searched for, simultaneously. The classes obtained differ essentially in the variables relating to attitudes towards death; an interpretation in terms of cognitive style is proposed.
